Why Do Catholics Follow Man Made Traditions?
Share
Catholic Traditions are Biblical and Apostolic, not man made. The Bible instructs us to follow the traditions of the Apostles. This is known as Apostolic Tradition as taught in scripture:
1 Corinthians 11:2 - I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 - Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.
2 Thessalonians 3:6 - We instruct you, brothers, in the name of [our] Lord Jesus Christ, to shun any brother who conducts himself in a disorderly way and not according to the tradition they received from us.
As we see in scripture, Apostolic Tradition is actually commanded. Catholics follow Apostolic Tradition, not man made traditions or doctrine.
It is our fellow Non-Catholic Christians (Protestants), Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons who follow man made doctrine. Most of their theology and interpretations of scripture come from men thousands of years after the time of Christ and were never taught by any Christians before their time.
The Catholic teachings and interpretations of scripture have been guarded and handed down for 2,000 years by inspiration of the Holy Spirit---from Christ, through the Apostles and through her One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, the Bride of Christ.
Amen.
